SUPPORT US

Supporting the Livingstonia Hospital Partnership
The David Gordon Memorial Hospital is supported by the Malawian Government who contribute towards staff salaries. There is also a small charge levied on those who receive treatment but as many live in poverty this charge does not reflect the actual costs incurred.

TRANSPORT COSTS

The remote location of the hospital means that there are high transport costs. The rugged terrain takes its toll on the ambulances and other vehicles which are essential for transporting patients, staff and supplies to the hospital and outlying health centres.

HOSPITAL SUPPORT NEEDS

Currently the Livingstonia Hospital requires approximately £4000 per month from abroad to allow it to offer essential health services to the 60,000 people in its catchment area.

The Livingstonia Hospital Partnership’s main objectives are to:

  1. Provide funds and equipment in such a manner as the Association thinks fit, to supplement the facilities and equipment of the David Gordon Memorial Hospital.
  2. Support the Work of the David Gordon Memorial Hospital in Livingstonia by the recruitment, selection and sending out of volunteers from Northern Ireland for the service within the area of benefit and any other method the commitee may time to time decide;
  3. Promote the work of the David Gordon Memorial Hospital in Livingstonia, Malawi in the area of benefit and in Northern Ireland;
  4. Promote primary health care in the area of benefit;
  5. Promote Christian Development in the area of benefit;
  6. Promote prayer for the work of the hosptial.
